Value Blend Hay
What is Value Blend Hay?
Value Blend Hay is our economical grass hay line — the same Timothy Hay or Orchard Grass you'd find in our Ultra Premium listings, offered in bulk sizes at a lower price point.
Timothy Hay here is a blend of our Coarse, Medium, and Soft Timothy; Orchard Grass is a blend of our Coarse and Soft Orchard Grass.
What's the difference between Value Blend and Ultra Premium hay?
Value Blend is the same grass hay species — Timothy or Orchard Grass — at a more economical price. It comes in bulk sizes only (5, 10, and 20 lb) and has more natural variation in texture and color between bags than our single-cut Ultra Premium lines. The underlying fiber and nutrition standards are the same.
Which should I choose — Timothy or Orchard Grass?
Timothy Hay has a classic grass hay flavor and higher fiber range — a solid everyday choice. Orchard Grass is sweeter and more fragrant with a softer texture, which can help with picky eaters or hay-scent sensitivity.
Both work as a free-choice everyday hay. If you'd like to sample each cut individually first, see Soft Timothy Hay and Soft Orchard Grass.
What are the key benefits?
- Exceptional value — Bulk 5, 10, or 20 lb bags at a lower price point than Ultra Premium.
- Two hay types, one listing — Choose Timothy Hay or Orchard Grass at checkout.
- Still real quality — Same essential fiber and nutrition standards, with more natural batch variation.
- Free-choice grass hay — Supports everyday digestion and dental health.
How much should I feed?
As grass hays, Timothy Hay and Orchard Grass should be available at all times. For adult rabbits 7 months and older and guinea pigs 6 months and older, grass hay should make up at least 80% of the diet. For chinchillas older than 1 year, aim for at least 75% grass hay.
When switching hays, mix the old and new hay over 7–14 days and watch appetite and droppings.
What is in this hay?
Ingredients: Timothy Hay variant is a blend of our Coarse, Medium, and Soft Timothy Hay. Orchard Grass variant is a blend of our Coarse and Soft Orchard Grass.
Guaranteed analysis: Crude protein — min 10%; crude fat — min 2%. Fiber content varies naturally by blend and batch — see our Ultra Premium Timothy and Orchard Grass listings for typical fiber ranges by hay type.
How do we pack, source, and report on hay quality?
We visually inspect and hand-pack Value Blend Hay, same as our other lines, so you get real hay with minimal dust — just with more natural batch-to-batch variation, which is part of what keeps the price down.
Store hay in a cool, dry place with good airflow. Avoid sealing hay in plastic long-term; if hay smells musty, feels damp, or looks unusually discolored, discard it and open a fresh bag.
We're based in Northern California and source hay from trusted growers in the surrounding Northwest regions.
